The TREMOVE transport model
How income, economic development and environmental legislation influence transport
Objective
The TREMOVE model simulates the future development of the transport system in Europe as a function of income, economic development and environmental legislation.
Model characteristics
TREMOVE is a policy assessment model, designed to study the effects of different transport and environment policies on the emissions of the transport sector. The model estimates for policies as road pricing, public transport pricing, emission standards, subsidies for cleaner cars etc., the transport demand, modal shifts, vehicle stock renewal and scrappage decisions as well as the emissions of air pollutants and the welfare level.
Typical features and results
- TREMOVE models both passenger and freight transport, and covers the period 1995-2020.
Data sources
- Transport statistics from EUROSTAT
Input from other EC4MACS models
- Time-series of macro-economic indicators (from the GEM-E3 and the PRIMES models)
- Fuel demand for transport (from the PRIMES model)
Output to other EC4MACS models
- Detailed composition of vehicle fleets and emission control measures (to the GAINS model)
Developed by
- Developed by Transport & Mobility Leuven and the K.U.Leuven
- For EC4MACS maintained and operated by the Laboratory on Thermodynamics at the Aristoteles University, Thessaloniki
